THIS IS NOT FOR YOU, centres around my own identity, as a lesbian, as well as challenging the historical and modern perception of lesbian/sapphic relationships when viewed through the heterosexual male gaze. There has always been a disturbing male presence that follows lesbians and sapphic women throughout their romantic lives. It leers at us from the recesses of pornography sites where our identity is used as sexual entertainment for the male viewer. It follows us throughout our relationships with disgusted faces mingled with embarrassment once their offer of a threesome is rejected. To them it isn’t love; it’s sex. It’s sex for their enjoyment so why would we wish to partake in it unless they were present? This is the question that lesbians and sapphic women keep being asked. This is the question I am answering.
